CASE DESIGN
The inspiration of creating a lighter watch came from a professional mountaineer's request to Morten Linde before his expedition to Mount Everest. "We wanted to make an even more functional watch for the sports enthusiasts and professionals without however compromising on design", says Morten Linde co-founder and Creative Director of the brand. He continues saying, "It took us a couple of years to perfect this technique which is based on the simple idea of removing all parts that are not needed on a watch case. The result is a much lighter and aesthetically pleasing case".
The Spidolite case is approximately 60% lighter than the normal Biformeter steel case. Please note, this is the case only (excl. movement, dial, hands and crystal).
Spidolite case: 29,20gr.
Biformeter case: 71,00gr.
YELLOW SAPPHIRE
The TRI 2.0 version is fitted with a sapphire crystal with a yellow transparent coating on the backside, giving the watch a stealth look
resembling that of a pair of shooting range glasses, snow goggles or aviator sunglasses.
NOS MOVEMENT
As noted above, the TRI 5.0 is fitted with a New Old Stock A. Schild ref. 1876 movement (NOS), meaning an unused, vintage movement. A. Schild was one of the major movement manufacturers in Switzerland in up until the 1978, when ETA and A. Schild merged into what is today know as ETA.
This movement is then re-polished with Cotes de Geneve pattern, calibrated and regulated to modern standards. Additionally, a 0,2mm titanium rotor plate bearing the "ANDERSEN GENEVE" and LW logos is added to the rotor.
