When I visited Bell&Ross at Baselworld last week, I was lucky enough to get to see the brand new BR03-92 Military Type ceramic instrument they launched for the event.
This is not the first ceramic B&R have done, their range of smaller BR-S instruments are also ceramic, but this is the first to be featured in 01/03 format - Also I believe that this is the first khaki green coloured ceramic watch ever produced!
On first impressions, the instrument looks very different - The green really stands out from the regular black 'carbon' watches and stainless steel that we recognise with 01/03 watches. Secondly, as this is 'still in development' the grey rubber strap made the watch feel slightly incomplete. When placed on the table, it looks a little odd with the mixture of green (case) black (Screws / crow) and grey (strap). However once you fit the watch on your wrist, the strap seems to feel right...I think B&R are looking at a darker grey strap or possibly dark olive green rubber to go alongside the green canvas that it has shown on the press releases. Let's face it, anyone buying this can put any combination of straps on the watch, and what's better, I think this would look great with a custom made WII Ammo leather strap!
The BR03 size is probably the most practical - it's 42mm case size fits most wrists, however some B&R purists will be disappointed that a BR01 version has not been released yet.... Let's wait until Baselworld 2011 boys & girls - I reckon an 01 ceramic will be on the cards if this watch is successful!
The watch itself feels quite heavy - probably not quite as heavy as a stainless steel one, but a nice solid weight. When you see the watch, you expect it to be really light...I don't know why.... But it's not!
Okay, the BEST thing about this watch, is the sapphire crystal!... It's tinted green (like sunglasses) which looks very cool and apart from another B&R prototype I saw, the first of it's kind for Bell&Ross.
Right, enough chat, let my photos do the rest of the talking for you!
