This is the first Devon Works Tread 1 to be delivered anywhere in the world. The lucky owner of this electronic, mechanically driven belt display watch is in Singapore. I also met the enthusiastic team behind the product, more on this machine soon. - SJX...

Where does the battery go?

 By: ArthurSG : October 20th, 2010-22:13
Any shots of the back?

Battery is inside

1-2 week power reserve, 2 year optimal lifespan. Battery is an off the shelf, but niche, type of battery. - SJX...

Thanks SJX

But what is the relevance of the power reserve? The battery only lasts 2 weeks or there's a spring drive type barrel?

much more would be welcome....

Should I guess that the watch is going to B*****d?

how about relative to MBFs?

Yesterday in Singapore. Here's another.

Tread 1 with MB&F HM4. They look appropriate side by side, as machines, despite the vast disparity in price (and finishing). One is a refined machine, the other is raw and industrial. - SJX...

SJX...would you think this watch

 By: CL : October 21st, 2010-07:15
will fit me and my wrist? I know it's big but sometime when a watch is 'progressive' looking , big is ok Do you personally like the watch? *CL

It sits well and I like it

 By: SJX : October 21st, 2010-09:44
some mutual friends of ours have or will get the watch and I am hoping to borrow it for a test drive. It is a piece of industrial machinery that tells the time; it is not fine watchmaking. Here it is on my wrist. It sits well on the wrist thanks for the s...

Cool looking watch but...

...looks kind of silly on the woman's wrist.

Here is my wristshot

 By: WHL : October 21st, 2010-13:31
taken of a prototype about two months ago. My wrist is 7 1/2 inches around. It's more massive than I am used to, but wearable so long as I don't need to fit it under a shirtsleeve. Bill...

It's my dream to one day be sitting in a restaurant and notice that the diners at the table next to me are wearing Gyrotourbillons and MBF's. Dream watches. Really. [And the Devon Tread's interesting too!] A

Cool timepiece, lucky owner. Congrats. [nt]

im looking forward for tread two as im not interested in a second belt ... and for sure they will be using what they learnt from the current tread. Faisal

and interesting watch... looking forward for the next tread though. Faisal

Since it came up, what new function(s) would you want..

 By: Ronald Held : October 22nd, 2010-04:33
for the tread 2?

Instead of functions

I m thinking, perhaps can have a spare belt to roll out personalized messages, like "you are a stud" or whatever...perhaps even biblical quotes

The proportions

 By: Mostel : October 23rd, 2010-13:45
are not that of a wristwatch... they are that of a toy to be held in the hand or placed on a shelf. The novelty of the machine is fun. The idea of wearing it on the wrist--rather than amusing oneself with this toy now and again--requires a level of denial...

Miniaturization ?

 By: AndrewD : October 24th, 2010-15:45
Hi Mostel, I am in agreement on size. Seeing as we have seen great advances in size of batteries and miniaturization of motors in the last few years, would you consider one if the overall size was much more manageable? I probably would, but not at this po...

No I wouldn't
