Vianney Goldpfeil Band option

Dear fellow Purists. I just wanted to show the Goldpfeil watch with an alternative band option. For those of you familiar with the watch, the band resembled film, and the buckle an uptake spool. Well the bands were complicated to make, I am almost certain...

Looks great, congrats! (nt)

... with the watch and the strap. Too bad (for me) those straps aren't readily available in uber-short lengths!

Good thinking Jay...

...and it works surprisingly well. Very nice. It was also clear thinking to 'stow' an original strap. Here's a thought - how about sending a photo of that strap and the specs to someone like ABP and having a replica manufactured? They could even match the...

I did start to go down that road and ....

the cost was crazy, around $600. Also ABP has to get it right, and they probably won't. Then there is still the problem of the buckle eating the strap. The shell cordovan strap is available quickly, can be had for around $100, is more comfortable, and qui...

after reading your point of view im CONVINCED

Thanks for the better pics . Faisal

I'll be curious about how long it'll last....

... if you use the "guillotine" buckle that came with the watch. Love the looks of that buckle but hate the strap-eating design. Nice new pics, too -- love it!

Not using the guillotine buckle, I just saw no sense...

.... in destroying a perfectly good band with an over designed buckle. As a rule though, cordovan lasts 4 times as long as regular leather. I spray the crap out of every band I get with silicone, and that adds years to every strap, so I expect a nice long...

I think that works great...

Hi Jay ! I think that works great and your reasoning is good too. How about a picture of the buckle ? Don

Here you go...

Cool!

Very nice look, and I appreciate the rationale as well. That's not the original buckle, right? Should be obvious to me given that I've seen the original with the tang and covering plate several times, but just asking to be sure... Best, Gary G

Cool interpretation...

.....although not my style but I like your idea for the replacement strap for this watch. Just curious...is it not possible to customize the strap to fit the original tang buckle? Tat

that would be one answer
