Some interesting watches from Stowa at Baselworld 2010

Stowa presented a couple of interesting watches at Baselworld. I've always liked them for their affordable watches.

The best is the new Marine Automatik A10 without date, containing a Sellita A10 calibre. Unlike the current Marine which has a white dial, this has a grained, solid silver dial. Diameter is 40 mm. This is available with or without date.

This is also available with a hand-wound movement sans date, though no photos are available. I have put myself on the waitlist for one of those with delivery forecast May or June. I've always wanted the Marine and this is the perfect one.

Another one I like is the Marine Original with a glossy, lacquered enamel dial.

The Marine line now has a chronograph, though I dislike the gold indices and hands.

Lastly the Flieger is now available with the "Baumuster B" dial.

The rest of the novelties at on www.basel2010.com.

Nice! Did you mean "lacquered" or "enamel"? ....

... I think an oven-baked enamel dial would be a rather expensive feature on a Stowa, but never say never ... Regards, Marcus

I mean lacquered enamel, i.e. faux enamel

"cold" enamel, lacquered enamel etc, all industry parlance for faux enamel. - SJX

or epoxy in layman parlance

or did I just diminish its beauty / value by using the correct scientific reference tongue in cheek, Mike

Thanks SJX

for both the original white dial as well as the new silver dials. Only the subsidiary seconds model is 41 mm. - SJX

Thanks, SJX for covering this brand.

I've been reading the newsletters from Stowa with interest. So, you've put yourself on the waitlist for the new MO with Durowe movement, correct? That model intrigues me as well. I keep telling myself I cannot pull the trigger on another MO, but I do love...

Hi Daos, I'm on the waitlist for the centre seconds hand-wound

in a 40 mm case with no date. The Durowe model is 41 mm with sub-seconds. Cheers, - SJX

good value, but...

good value, but really slow service and long delivery time. and their less then useful deployants!!! otherwise, i like the simplicity and no nonsense design.

I have one of the very first Marine Originals, and I love it.

Haute horlogerie values on a quartz budget! For relatively little money I got blued hands and screws, a classic, well-thought-out case design with good execution, a swan-neck regulator, Geneva Stripes, and a very practical and comfortable chain-link style...
