One day in Basel – Part 4 – Blancpain, Longines, GP
Blancpain
having no appointment with Blancpain, I just have a look around their booth. The new Bathyscaphe Chronograph.
An original 1954 Fifty Fathoms on display
Next is Longines. I am curious to see the new models of the heritage collection.
The Longines Heritage 1935 - new release 2014.. Very attractive piece - apart of the unnecessary date window of course
The Longines Avigation Oversize Crown - not new but still noteworthy part of the Heritage collection. Again, why do we need a date on a timepiece that is supposed to be a vintage watch reborn? It simply spoils the dial.
.
An extremely attractive single pusher chronograph. Available in several versions, as well in steel. Column wheel chronograph movement by ETA (exclusive for Longines) also on this model, less would be more...no date needed. However on this model it is less disturbing than on the other two examples).
The heritage collection includes some really attractive pieces. I may follow up with some additional pictures in another report.
For more details on the Longines, check Markus Hanke's detailed report:
Movement of the Neo Tourbillon
The new tri-axial tourbillon by GP.
Check out the details on Blommann’s great report
The red gold version of the revolutionary Constant Escapement that was first introduced last year. The escapement is mesmerizing to observe in its function.
Finally the manual wind chronograph presented as well in 2013. Many of us have been wishing for GP to come up with a manual version of chronograph.
