Well, my wife will be the FIRST to kick my statement of owning any HM 4 or 5 into orbits left vacant in larger planets.
I agree 50%, disagree 50%.
I think that HM5 is a modified HM3 and a half completed HM4.
Sounds TERRIBLE.
But look...there are the minutes and hours, seperated and on two planes.
The movt.
And then the modified adjustments to make a "lesser" HM4...the familiar conocal views....etc.
In fact, I think the HM5 is really a chopped up and adjusted to meet expectations HM watch.
This will make the HM4 a watershed piece for HM design, in being a true blue movement design, and a true blue art design.
So...at that damned price (which I cannot explain/justify) , I swallowed hard, and bought HM4.
The HM5 is different...it reflects EXACTLY the state of the world's economy. And if history allows humans to exist beyond 2090....the HM watches will ALL,and I mean ALL, still be working and hanging around...the HM5 will be a monument to
man's folly in handling all the currency crises in 2013.
It is an econoplas sticker used to contain a bleeding bullet wound.
Yet, in more "comfortable" times, the HM 5 will be a sought after art piece.
BUT...not now, not in 2013. Until the world's economy swings BACK...we will not be seeing HM as any form of worthwhile curiosity, let alone an investment.
But it's like having a good bottle of 1935 bourbon....
Buy low, sell high...usually it is the grat grandchildren doing the selling.
I say all this in half jest, and half speculative focus.
I never thought that one day, we would not use film for pictures....seriously (in 1982).
Half jest...we never will live to know.
But as sure as hell, I wanna leave some real puzzles for my grand children to solve, and to know who thier great grand father was.
